Mackenzie Koreman

New York

“I used Micaela’s tutoring services for LSAT prep. I had used a tutor prior to coming to Micaela but I felt like I hadn’t made any improvements so I was a bit weary of the process as a whole. Micaela easily adjusted to my learning preferences and provided the tools that I needed to achieve the outcome I wanted. I ended up getting the exact score that I set out to achieve and I couldn’t have done it without her. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Mica is the best tutor I have ever had. I’m graduating high school next year and I’ve had her as my tutor since I was 12 years old. She has taught me so much but has also been there for me when I needed her. Before starting tutoring with Mica I went through countless tutors that didn’t understand my thought process and didn’t know how to teach me. Mica was the only one who understood me and learned how to teach me in a way that I understood…”

“Mica was recommended to me and since my fist interaction with her she was very professional. Her tutoring skills helped my daughter to increase her SAT scores and made her feel confident about the subject she was struggling. I ended up recommending Mica’s services to other friends and they loved her tutoring services as well.”

Student Highlights

Sara's Story

Sara is a bright 6th grader who faces unique challenges with ADHD. Large classrooms and repetitive homework can feel overwhelming, even though she performs well on exams. After spending time with Sara and her mom, we developed a customized organization plan tailored just for her. Mica, who takes a personal interest in every student, supports Sara by sending friendly reminder texts, introducing fun and engaging organizational tools, and helping her discover creative study methods that keep her motivated and focused. With this personalized support, Sara is not only staying on top of her deadlines but also building confidence and skills that will serve her well beyond the classroom.

Roberto's Story

Roberto came to us in 10th grade facing significant personal and academic challenges. Once a high-achieving student, he had shifted from honors classes to regular courses in an effort to fit in with a peer group that didn’t prioritize academics. His motivation dropped, and his parents felt overwhelmed by the changes they were seeing. It became clear that a combination of environmental factors, including negative peer influence, family stress, and low self-confidence, were affecting his ability to thrive.
We moved quickly, partnering with Roberto’s teachers and school counselor to gain a full picture of his social and academic landscape. With their support, we worked closely with his family to establish healthy boundaries, such as limiting screen time and creating structured routines, to restore stability and focus. After several months of intentional support, Roberto re-enrolled in honors classes with renewed confidence.
To sustain his progress, we continued weekly tutoring and designed a monthly volunteer program tailored to help him build responsibility, accountability, and teamwork. With consistent effort and a strong support system, Roberto not only earned his AICE diploma but was also accepted into a competitive college scholarship program, proof of his resilience and the power of targeted, holistic support!

Amanda's Story

Amanda came to us the summer before 5th grade, having just moved to Florida from Venezuela with limited English skills. Due to immigration-related challenges, she wasn’t able to enroll in school right away, and her family worried she might have to repeat the year. To keep her on track, we designed a personalized homeschooling plan that focused on building her English proficiency, catching her up in math, and preparing her for the standardized tests ahead. Amanda’s curriculum included a hands-on science fair project that helped boost her confidence and language skills. By the end of the program, she had a strong portfolio of work to present to the school board, who then approved her placement directly into middle school with her peers. Today, Amanda is fluent in English, excelling with straight A’s, and preparing to take the SATs as she looks ahead to starting her college journey

Nico's Story

Nico came to us in 11th grade, a talented soccer player with a sports scholarship at a private school, but struggling academically as his grades began to slip. Facing failing marks and little support from overwhelmed teachers, Nico’s scholarship was at risk, and both his parents and coach were deeply concerned. We stepped in, coordinating with the school to get him approved for summer classes to retake failed courses while simultaneously working to boost his current grades. Through focused tutoring, consistent encouragement, and a tailored plan, Nico not only passed the year but finished with a strong 3.7+ GPA. Thanks to this dedicated effort, he kept his scholarship and continues to pursue his dream, working hard with us toward a college soccer scholarship.

Max's Story

Max came to us near the end of 8th grade, with his family concerned after receiving news that he faced possible expulsion due to behavioral challenges at school. Although Max is a bright and kind-hearted student with a strong passion for history and numbers, his grades had begun to slip after falling in with a difficult peer group in a low-stimulation classroom environment. At home, Max remained caring, but his frustration showed through anger outbursts and conflicts at school. Recognizing that Max’s success required more than just academic support, we worked closely with his family to remove him from the traditional school setting and enrolled him in an online program to improve his GPA and tackle the underlying behavioral concerns at play. Beyond the standard curriculum, we designed a tailored intervention that included a summer project that was both mentally and socially rewarding. To support his social growth, we helped Max join a local sports team, creating a healthier peer circle and enriching his social experience. Thanks to this team-based approach, Max has flourished, returning to in-person school, finishing 9th grade with all A’s and B’s, and celebrating milestones like earning his driver’s permit!
